White House Heritage junior Forrest Whiting has been selected to attend the 2017 Tennessee Governor’s School for Scientific Models and Data Analysis from May 28 to June 30, at East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City.
The Governor’s School received a large number of applications for this year’s 30 slots and commended Whiting in a letter, “…for an academic record that clearly places you among Tennessee’s best and brightest high school students.”
The invitation includes a full scholarship from the Tennessee Department of Education to cover Whiting’s tuition, textbooks, housing and meals while at the School.
Courses at the School are developed by a hand-picked faculty, and Whiting has been told that he can expect some of the most engaging academic challenges in his life. Additionally, he can expect to establish new friendships and relationships with some of the brightest students in the state.
